Building Surveys
Modern buildings are often large and frequently designed to make the most of a site. This often involves extending a design as close as possible to planning controls, including coverage, setbacks, daylighting and height restrictions.
Surveyors are often employed to survey existing buildings, mark out new buildings or review designs in relation to council planning controls and private covenant restrictions. A building survey or design review can help with determining accurately the placement of existing or proposed buildings in relation to the myriad of rules.
Topography Surveys
Topographic surveys are used typically to assist designers of buildings and subdivision. The ‘topo’ survey models the landform and any existing structures by way of levels, contours, position of existing boundaries and structures.
The 'topo' helps a designer determine what is possible on any given site, whether it be an open field or a site intended to be redeveloped. It is often one of the first steps in a development pathway.
